Mr. Bill Hayes

Math

Born and raised in Beverly, MA and graduated from Beverly High School in 1978. Attended Norwich University in Northfield, VT and graduated with a BS degree in Business and Mathematics in 1982. Received a Regular Army Commission in the United States Army also in June of 1982.

Completed US Army RANGER, Airborne, and Air Assault schools. Attended the FBI Basic and Advanced SWAT courses, as well as Hostage Negotiations Course. Military assignments included Forts Bragg, Lewis, and Leavenworth (for school purposes, not as a military inmate at the Military Disciplinary Barracks LOL). Military travel included Honduras, Korea, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and other foreign sites.

I left the Army in 1996 and settled with my family back in Raymond, NH. I was employed at Hannah Engineering for two years before becoming a certified(K- 8) middle school mathematics teacher at Sanborn Middle School in Newton, NH. After 8 years of middle school math instruction and completing my Secondary Mathematics Teacher Certification, I taught at Exeter High School for two years before leaving for Raymond High School where I taught mathematics (Alg I, ALg II, Geometry, Prob/Stats, Quantitative Reasoning, and Pre-Calculus) to grades 9 through 12 during my 16 years at Raymond High!

My family includes three sons and their wives (well one is still a girlfriend, because my youngest son still thinks he’s not married because they never went through the ceremony). I also have a step son and step daughter and a step granddaughter, of whom I consider all to be my own and always throw out the “step” part. My wife Mary, and I, live in Hampton, NH just far enough away from the beach, but close enough to venture there during the “off-season”.

I love all sports, fishing, gardening (vegetable gardening mostly), and working on our house both inside and out!

In my free time.....wait....I don’t have any!!!

I am honored to be able to be a part of the Benjamin Franklin Academy Charter Public School. The dedicated team of professionals and the people working diligently behind the scenes to make this a reality, will provide outstanding opportunities for young learners and their futures.
